International Gypsum Ecosystems Meeting Held at TMU


International gypsum ecosystem meeting was held at the auditorium of TMU’s Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences on May 30th .In this scientific meeting, scholars from Juan Carlos University and CSIC Institute of Spain, presented their experiences on gypsum habitat ecology, people’s role in maintaining biological diversity, functional analysis of vegetative communities, and effect of environmental change.

This meeting was held in line with EU 2020 Vision Plan.

Dr Mehdi Abedi, faculty member of the grassland management department and the national manager of the project declared: “In this project, the ecological and functional analysis of gypsum ecosystems will be conducted by universities of Ferdowsi and Tehran and ten other countries, and in this respect, Spanish colleagues of this international project made a two-week visit to gypsum habitats of Iran. He added, they also visited the ecology laboratory as well as the research forest of the faculty.

Both sides agreed to enhance scientific collaboration between Iran and Spain, as a result of this meeting. It should be noted that the results of this visit was presented in the Gypsum Ecosystems Conference held at the University of Ankara, Turkey.
